Our Story

by Dean Bokhari • Founder + Creator, 1-2-5 Method™

I launched 125Method™ in April of 2025 – after nearly two decades of experimentation and research in the productivity field.

Over the years, I've tried every task-management app out there. I read all the productivity books. And I tested every productivity system available.

I even interviewed the authors of the most popular productivity books out there — I spoke with folks like Cal Newport who wrote Deep Work, and David Allen, who wrote Getting Things Done.

My goal behind all of this was to find the perfect balance between simplicity and productivity.

Of course, if you go searching for perfection, you're never gonna find it. But I wanted to get as close as possible…

I wanted a framework that was minimalist, easy to use, and most importantly, effective.

So, I approached it like a journalist who just got assigned his first major story to report on.

And I'm probably one of the few weirdos on earth who genuinely enjoyed the process.

(Honestly, how many people do you know who geek out over productivity methods? lol)

It was an incredible experience learning about so many different approaches to achievement from all of these wonderful tools, books, and people…

Eventually, all that accumulated knowledge and research led to my creation of the 1-2-5 Method™ – a daily approach to getting things done that's so insanely simple that it makes you wonder why the heck it took me so many years to get it down.

Here's how to use it.

Start each day by writing down your most important things to work on or accomplish, using the following structure:
  • 1 Big Thing – First, identify + write down the ONE most important thing you need to work on or accomplish today. See 1BT examples below:
    • Deep work on XYZ project.
    • Prepare for presentation.
    • Study for Math finals.
  • 2 Medium Things – Next, write down two medium-priority things to do. See 2MT examples below:
    • Spend an hour researching my new business idea.
    • Respond to all work emails.
    • Do 30 minutes of yard work.
  • 5 Little Things – Finally, jot down five small tasks. See 5LT examples below:
    • Call Brandon.
    • Do a load of laundry.
    • Meditate for 10 minutes.
After you've made your 1-2-5 list, get to work!

Be sure to keep your list nearby throughout the day so you can see it and check things off as you get them done. And always tackle your 1-2-5 priorities sequentially, starting with your 1 BIG Thing of the day first.

Lastly, don't write your lists out on random scraps of paper like a caveman...
